Footlight Dance Academy, incorporating Born2Perform, is a long established organisation offering dance and musical theatre training to a variety of ages throughout the local area.

The Wimborne based organisation was established in 1989 and the school offers many years of experience in the performing arts profession.

Classes are available in RAD Ballet, ISTD Tap and Modern, and Footlight Funk (Hip Hop Class), contemporary and street dance are also incorporated. Footlight offer a warm and nurturing environment for ages 3+, and many of the footlight students have gone on to work in musical theatre and with professional dance companies.

Footlight produce fantastic productions annually at the Lighthouse, Poole, as well as taking part in professional productions for example, local pantomimes, A Chance to Dance at Bournemouth Pavillion, productions with Wimborne Musical Theatre Society, Cabarets, local school fetes and many more.

Born2Perform the performance academy and production company associated with Footlight Dance Academy are currently producing this years Pantomime at the Tivoli Theatre Wimborne.

The dance school aims to supply individuals with high quality and professional dance and musical theatre training and has several branches throughout the area. The experienced teachers give students fantastic opportunities to perform in live theatre, take exams with established examination boards, or just simply have an appreciation and love of dance. The tuition is intended for fitness, for fun, or for the student's future.

Footlight have branches in Colehill, Merley and Corfe Mullen.
