Charlie and The Chocolate Factory - Show News Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was fantastic. The dancers showed their professionalism throughout and were a pleasure to watch, especially when evacuated due to the fire alarm activating during the Saturday evening performance. Everyone enjoyed themselves. The best show yet. Kind regards Sylvianne Show Review In the beginning when we were based on one site, each show contained ballet, tap & modern dances, yes three costumes minimum per dancer, all that planning, designing, making for the parents, it was very pressured. It was back in 2000 that Nina decided that she would like to produce full ballets and alternate the disciplines each year. As we had expanded the school to more sites, this allowed all the dancers to be able to take part too, it was either that or 4 hour shows or limit the dancers that could take part. For those of us with dancers who do all three disciplines, this was a welcome relief to the pocket. We have needed to move theatres too, remembering that the more dancers there are, the more parents and family come to watch. We have never wanted to limit the number of tickets available as they do in schools, but sell out shows have meant putting on extra performances which has caused some anxiety from the parents that their offspring will be too tired. I hasten to add, touring has been suggested by the dancers, they have unlimited energy and the desire to perform is unrelenting. Needless to say, every change has been necessary and a rewarding experience for all. The dancers just love working on a stage, wherever it is, but having the opportunity to "tread the boards" where famous actors have walked is an exciting opportunity, not to be missed. The lingo soaks in too, be warned this year, the mention of "flying" is not the dancers, but the scenery. Moving to the Lighthouse, allows us more flexibility and space, no more crowding in the wings, or squeezing against the props, (remember climbing around the car in Grease) Every show you ever take part in stays with you forever, however old you get, the memories still flood back.
